Alicia Vikander and Michael Fassbender are the perfect couple at film The Light Between Oceans

Alicia Vikander looked stunning as she walked the red carpet alongside her boyfriend and co-star for the London premiere of their movie The Light Between Oceans.

The 28-year-old Oscar-winning actress stole the spotlight in her delicate blue floral gown with a peplum skirt.

Her handsome beau Michael, 39, cut a dapper figure in a slick suit and tie as he cosied up to Alicia while posing for pictures.

Also on the red carpet was actress Florence Clery, who plays the on-screen couple’s daughter in the film.

The couple first met on the set of the set of the romantic period drama, which was written and directed by Blue Valentine’s Derek Cianfrance.

Michael and Alicia have enjoyed a low-profile relationship since meeting on the film’s set in 2014 but the Swedish actress said in a recent interview that they have “never hidden the fact we’re a couple”.

Speaking to Porter magazine, she added: “He’s extremely hardworking. He was like, ‘Give me something new! I just need a new idea. I need to do it differently.” I just thought that was cool.”

The adaptation of ML Stedman’s 2012 novel of the same name also stars Rachel Weisz, Bryan Brown, Jack Thompson and Florence Clery.

The Light Between Oceans originally premiered at the 73rd Venice International Film Festival in September.

It follows the emotional story of Australian First World War veteran Tom Sherbourne, now a lighthouse keeper, who struggles to have a baby with his wife Isabel Graysmark.


They are gifted with what appears to be a miracle baby washed up in a boat wreck, but their blissful family life is soon thwarted.

The Light Between Oceans is set for release in the UK on November 4.
